Team #24 – Part 2, Victory Highway Wesleyan
August 2013

The first photo shows what the goal was. The team poured the floor for the second floor classroom. This room is going to be an English classroom. Most of the public have to teach English as a second language. They also have to have a library and teach in how to use books correctly. The other mandatory item that will come into play in 2014 is that every child must maintain a 70 average in all classes. It is currently 60. This is going to force the children to study more and put more attention into their education and force those who are lazy to work. It is like the second photo. Could you imagine a team coming without passion, without motivation? It would be disastrous. The students with their teachers always look on and admire the work ethnic our teams have. They admire how the teams have the ability to work together for one purpose. 700 block were moved to the 2nd floor. Actually these block have been moved various times to just reach the 2nd floor. The 3rd and 4th photos show Pastor Giron and Pastor Steve working on installing block for the 2nd floor walls. Here in Honduras we use story poles with fish line to keep our walls plumb and straight. Our entire block is cut by hand. It some days to lay up all 700 block but it was accomplished before the team left for home. All this work reminded me of what the Lord said in Job. Job 38:4a,6 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation ? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone.” We didn’t have physically a cornerstone but spiritually we knew who was our cornerstone as we sang, as we worked, as we prayed, and as we laughed while laying up the walls.
The team also poured 2 concrete pads. This is where the children will be entering the kitchen to receive their lunches. So it was important to make sure they will not be walking in mud. The concrete mixer that all of you donated has come in very handy for our teams. In years past we would have to mix all this concrete by hand which would kill tons of time and energy from the team members. However in the 3rd photo the sand and gravel was shoveled into buckets and then moved to the mixer in where it was then dumped into the machine to be mixed. That is hard work and it didn’t stop our team members from accomplishing this. This is one thing I love about our teams. It is their tenacity in conquering the task at hand. The last photo is of Oscar. He is a part of our youth group for 2 years now. He is a recovering alcoholic and has been a Christian for 2 years now. He has been working alongside our teams this year. He helped out in framing the ceiling for the kitchen in preparation for 2014 teams. We are truly blessed to have Pastor Giron, Juan de Dios, and Oscar working for the ministry. With their experience, love for the Lord, and servants attitude it is a blessing for our ministry.
