Team #24 as seen in the top photo is the second work team to help the Santa Margarita School which is about 11 minutes from our home and about 5 minutes from the Barrio Rincon where we work. This team is also the last work team for 2013 so we had to accomplish as much as we could. We were blessed to have present on team Pastor Steve from Victory Highway Wesleyan Church. He and his daughter wanted to come down various times before but the window of opportunity was closed for many reasons. However God had a specific reason for him and the team that was formed to come the month of August. It meant spiritual revival for some team members, it meant reflection for others, and it meant confronting issues that only God would know. It also brought salvation to the young lady in the 3rd photo whose name is Amy. Amy is the daughter of Brad and Janet Hinman who came down last year. Brad is our PR Board member for BBM. He with his wife prayed for a miracle to happen for Amy. Amy received Jesus Christ as her Savior the last Saturday she was here in Honduras. To be able to pray her into the family with my wife and her dad was a blessing in itself. In the second photo is one of two buildings in the Santa Margarita School. This school is in much dire need of remodeling but the most important was the need in forming relationships with the children. Many of these children come from gang affiliated families. They see so much and experience so much that many of us don’t experience. It is always a miracle to see the joy and smiles on the faces on these children while they hug and spend time with our team.
Currently we have 6 sponsored children in this school but have a waiting list of 85 children who are in need of a scholarship so they can continue with their studies not just in the primary level but for the secondary level which cost more. These young ladies in the top photo are like so many that are waiting and praying for a scholarship. One thing the kids love to do is write messages on the team’s shirts. They will ask first but I must admit it feels good to have a child writing a message of thanks, of love, and just signing their name as seen in the second photo. The last photo is Jose Luis Director of the Health Department. He stopped by to lend a hand in the digging and preparing the ground so it can be poured with concrete. Jose works with the public schools in making sure the children have good health. He loves BBM and what we offer with vitamins, our lunch program, scholarships and so much more. He is willing to serve our Lord in any way he can.
The goal of the missionary is to do the will of God. It is not how much is accomplished or solely winning the lost. Yes winning the lost for Jesus is the missionaries’ purpose and doing the work that we do at the schools is important but the goal is to do the will of our Lord. Psalm 40:8 “I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”
