Message of Encouragement from Michal and Glenda 3/20/20
Hello Brothers and Sisters;
I felt led by the Spirit to write and encourage all of you back home. I also want to give you an update on how we are doing in Honduras and during this Covid-19 Virus. We will be sending out a series of Newsletters to encourage you at home that God’s work is still being done and we are spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these difficult times. Our Hope is in the Lord and our Hope is that this short e-mail with the Newsletters we will be sending to you will encourage you while you are home and in prayer.
Honduras being a third world country temporarily has shut down the country completely since Monday the 16th of March. They closed the country down because we had only 9 cases of Covid-19 and they wanted to prevent the spread of this virus. Unfortunately this brought panic and hysteria to the country. Not in fear of the virus but how will the poor person live when everything is shut down.In Honduras we have one of the poorest countries in all of Latin America, if not the poorest, with 67 percent of the population below the poverty line. Studies have shown as many as 50% of Hondurans are unemployed. A staggering 77% of Honduran children live in households that are in poverty; one in five children suffer from chronic malnutrition and only 58% percent attend school.
Families here live day by day and when the markets are closed how can one work and also purchase food for their daily needs. People are worried about the lack of water. Many communities have not seen water in a month and are trying to live on a truck who comes and delivers water. People will come out to the street and receive on average 2-5 gallon buckets of water which is hard to live on for a family. Plus if you shut down the delivery trucks that deliver clean bottle water it makes it harder to have clean drinking water as well. I thank God for the communities we gave water filters to. I also pray for the communities that do not have filters and are on our list to be helped in the future. The grocery stores here have food but how can a poor family purchase food when they do not have work. Being a very poor Latin Country means there isn’t any bail out package or programs to help the poor person. The government is trying to figure this out.
Small churches do not have the technology to use for their preaching. The larger ones do and Praise God!!
Personally as a ministry we have been working right up to Monday in reaching out with the Gospel. At home we are reaching out with the Gospel through WhatsApp and messages. Also we are encouraging many to fast and pray. We are working on the sponsorship packages as well so we can mail them out and back home to all of you. letters from your child/children are always encouraging. Especially when you see the drawings they made in their cards and also the detail the cards have. It is truly an expression of love and thankfulness to all who sponsor a child.So, far we have translated 285 letters in these last 3 days.
We are planning for the future in Jesus’ name.
At the begging of the year I preached on Matthew 7:24-27 and I want to quote verse 24 “Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation.” (The Passion Translation)
All of you are on the foundation of Jesus Christ and we are unshakable when we claim the Power, Glory and Victory of Jesus of our lives, this virus and the economy of this world. We as missionaries have lived through 3 different diseases like dengue, H1N1, and so many more. We have lived through a change of government and overthrowing of power in 2010 when the Congress of Honduras removed the President and everything was shut down, thousands came out in protest and burnt and destroyed businesses. We had sheriff law enacted, but we kept preaching the Gospel in prison and in the barrios. We have served during the financial crisis in 2008 when we were in a Recession. We have seen droughts and Hurricanes.We have seen life lost and life given. Psalm 1271a “Unless the Lord builds the House the Builders labor in vane.”God is building your temple that houses the Holy Spirit. He is with all of us and there will be Victory in all those we share the Gospel to.
Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”
Our desire is a healing across the World. A healing of Souls who need Jesus. To draw closer to God.James 4:8 “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
The world is calling us to wash our hands to prevent a virus. Let us, “wash our hands and purify our hearts” to show our Loyalty to God.
In Honduras one thing is encouraging it that the people are looking to God in fear because they need God now more than ever. They feel everything is against them. Not just the poverty and unemployment and virus’. Lack of water and clean water. They fear because they know they need to trust in Him more.
Matthew 7:25 talks about when the storms come. We are in that storm. We as a family of God will not be washed away because we have our faith in Him.
Please pray for all the Missionaries in the world and in 3rd world countries and especially the missionaries in Europe who are going through harder times.We will continue to pray for all of you and for all the churches. We are updated by Fox News and International News as well. We love you and we are together in this time of Prayer and Witnessing of the Gospel to others.God Bless you all!!!!
