“How can we save people from their past?”

If all of you remember, this is Mario. Mario entered our program back in 2006 in Puerto Cortes one night around 11:00pm as his family transported him from the southern border of Honduras to the northern border just to start the process in removing his tattoos. Mario was only a few months out of the MS 13^th St. gang. He had no hope, no focus, and the only thing he wanted after receiving Christ as his Savior was to be set free from the torture of being hunted for leaving his past life with the gang. We continued to help Mario in working on removing his tattoos and building him a home for him and his family. With help from his Baptist Church he found work full time and Spiritual help as well with his growth. He is very happy in some sense because he is working and congregating with a family of believers’. However he is scared because of his tattoos that he will be killed for leaving the gang and for erasing his tattoos. Also he says he is imprisoned in some sense because he can’t leave his community, he has to wear long sleeve shirts to cover his tattoos, and also he has to sign documentation 3 times a year to prove he is a good citizen. Eight years of working with Mario and we are seeing the change and fruit from this work but we are not seeing the fruit from the removal of his tattoos. As seen with the last 3 photos. We have a very long list of men and women who want to be free from their errors just like many of us are free from our past mistakes. However just like the scripture they endure a lot of persecution but they continue to love and take it. In their minds they say it is due punishment for their past sins. We are in need of a new tattoo removal machine to save lives. We are looking for those who are willing to give towards this much needed cause. The cost of the machine is $23,000.00 Yes it is a lot of money but what is the price for a life set free. Are they the refuse of the word? We think not.
