Devotional Thought from Tegucigalpa 4/27/20

by Mark Erway

Michael and many of our board members as well as a number of team veterans use a daily devotional called “My Utmost for His Highest” by Oswald Chambers. https://utmost.org This devotional is challenging and keeps us centered on Christ above all else.

Michael reflected:

Powerful devo today: John 17:22 “that they may be one just as We are one.” Powerful words for us to reflect on. We are one with our spouses. We are one sometimes with our family. We are one or connected to someone very special. Being one with someone is an emotional bond for life. God created man and woman and when they come together as husband and wife they are one in flesh, love and emotion. Jesus is asking the bride, “the church” to become one with Him spiritually, emotionally and one in heart and mind. Think about these words. It is not God seeking you and blessing you only. It is us seeking Him and knowing Jesus and his desires. Are we one with the Lord? Are we connected to him emotionally? Do look for Him constantly? What do you want? Jeremiah 45:5 “Do you seek great things for yourself?” I pray we can become One with Jesus and not look to the “other things in life” to satisfy our desire to be loved. He loved us first.
