Message from the Missionaries

Ezekiel 3:6b-9 “Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. But the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole house of Israel is hardened and obstinate. But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are rebellious house.”

Personally this scripture speaks loud to us and the work we do. It also speaks loud about the condition that Honduras is in. Both have allowed us to lean even more on Jesus and His mighty power. Our Lord has put us in the den of gang members, ex-gang members and men and women who are serial killers or servants of Satan. Our Lord has put us in the work with children who come from broken families and are lashing out with huge amounts of anger and with the attempt to push ones buttons. Our Lord has guided us in confrontation of demons and many other hardships. Many times we must be honest we shake our heads and ask what we are doing. Then the Lord speaks this passage to us and says, “I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint.” When Honduras becomes more obstinate along with its people, we find strength in the Lord to do what we do. One thing is for sure and is for all of us and that is DO NOT BE AFRAID. We can not be terrified of the enemy or by a rebellious house. We need to take it head on and use our faith to see what He is going to do. In these times when decisions seem to be confused by our leaders or by the world leaders we need not to be afraid but trust in God. We have been preaching about keeping focused in the Lord and not in the distractions that the world gives us. These distractions are from the enemy. So what is distracting you from God?

Prison Ministry

This month is the month of the prisoner. Usually the inmates in prison celebrate by hosting soccer championships inside and taking a vacation which is strange to say and I imagine for you to read. It is a vacation from any rehabilitation classes like us. However our group of ex-gang members wanted us to celebrate it with them. We thought and prayed how we could be a blessing and a witness to God’s love for them. So we brought in 56 chicken breast and Glenda and I cooked barbeque chicken for the men. When we finished cooking the chicken we helped serve it with the daily ration of beans and rice and we noticed that one cup of each is not a whole lot of food. The men’s faces were sunken in and there bodies were weak from the lack of food and clean water. In fact when we got to the last few men there wasn’t enough beans and rice for every one. Each man we faced we told them this is from the Lord and His love for them. When finished we packed up and started for the gate. The men asked where are you going and why are we not eating. We told them we came to serve and not to be served. We did this for you in the name of Jesus Christ and to glorify him by leaving you this memory and testimony. They were in shock and stared at us as we waved good bye. They had to be asking why us out of 3,000 men why did we get the 56 chicken breast. Why didn’t they eat with us but just served us. We later told them that they now need to do this same act to some one outside the prison and change there life for Christ. (washing of the feet)

Honduras Kairos

When a brother falls. I had to make a hard decision a few months ago in not allowing a brother to continue to be a volunteer with Kairos Honduras. Felix Pedro is his name and he was our lead musician for our men’s ministry. Felix fell hard this year to alcohol and flirtation with some of the women in Kairos. However we haven’t abandoned him. Our community meets twice a month on Sundays and have been in deep conversation about Felix and how can we help him and his addiction. We formed a group of men some who have had the same problem as Felix and we’ll be visiting him and hopefully we can restore him and find him help. The major problem is that he denies he has a problem. Pray for us This September 30, 2009. We are going to Love him like Jesus did and go from there.

School Projects

So many have written us and have asked us what is left to do for the new building in order to complete it. Well there are still many things to do. We were blessed by our Lord by receiving a huge donation from a brother of the faith who has a passion to see this project completed so we may move on to another public school. Glenda and I have been in the process in praying and visiting other public schools. We have been taking pictures, talking to teachers and hearing their testimonies and seeing what each school needs. We are close in making a decision and are waiting confirmation from Jesus in this decision. As soon as Jesus tells us we’ll let all of you know. Here is a list of what is left at the Venezuela school new building:

Build and paint shelving for the library; finish trimming out the 4 windows in the second floor; finish installing the air conditioning (wiring, tubing); finish electrical outlets in the second floor; paint entire outside with two different colors and painting the Honduran flag colors for the entire perimeter of the building; plaster back wall and paint; build and install kitchen cabinets; appliances (stove and refrigerator); purchase tables for the cafeteria; need a donation to purchase plates, cooking pots etc.; finish electrical for the 1st floor and panel box cover; paint floor for the 1st floor; and hook up sewer and water lines.

Seems like a lot of work but I think with the donation that we received and one more team we should be able to finish this project and be able to move to the next school. God definitely has called us to this work in rejuvenating public schools for Honduras and especially now in these times when all the outside countries have stopped in helping Honduras because of the crisis. God said to us; you keep going and keep your faith in me.

We are doing just that.

Side note: we will still keep all our programs and sponsorships going in Rincon. This community has become our home.

Community Projects

Dia de Nino (day of the children) is a celebrated day in Honduras. We also host a huge celebration for the children in the Barrio Rincon. This year we had two piñatas, sandwiches, and games with prizes and bible study with craft projects. We were blessed to have 85 children this year. Not only did they come for the party but the majority have continued to come for fun during our Saturday youth group.

A Personal Outlook

During these hard times is when we need to work together even more. We need to come together and say I will trust in God even if it means sacrifice on my part and makes my life a little more inconvenient. In these times we need to speak up about our faith and ignore those who come against us but love them as Jesus does and it will win over your enemy and those who are in denial about God’s control over our destiny. God has a purpose and plan for each of us and is orchestrating each step in our lives to lead us closer to Him. 2Timothy 1:8b-9 “But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” So please continue to join us in suffering for the gospel by the power of God so we can continue to fulfill all that you just read above in Jesus name.

Prayer Requests

Pray for the country of Honduras. Pray for the men and women inside of prison for healing and learning how to walk again. Pray for our youth and the community of Rincon because marijuana is becoming a bigger problem each day. Continue to pray for us and this ministry. Prayer for the teachers to realize that there first priority should be the children’s education. Sendy Gonzalez in reconciliation with Jesus. Carlos is one of our youth and participant in Kairos, his dad was hit by a bus after work on a Sunday. He is in good condition but has horrible headaches and he needs prayer.

Prayer

Lord the news seems to show us that we need to live in panic, confusion, hardship is always facing us around the corner and there seems to be an opening that seems to be shrinking every minute for us to escape. However Lord you taught us that this is not the focus we should have. These problems and the strains it places on our lives are no different than during the time of Jesus and the Israelites. Many during Jesus times were seeking for the kingdom of God and today many are seeking there own kingdom. Oh how our focus had changed and how we have become displaced. We have become timid in our faith but,” you have given us a spirit of power, of love, and of self discipline.” Our prayer Lord is to reveal your power and grace to all those who are afraid and timid. Lord show your will in ministries like this and all those missionaries who are struggling in the world. These are the times Lord that you have called us to stand firm and serve as our Lord did. Show us the way in every decision we make. In Jesus name,

Amen.
