This is Sindy and here is Sindy’s story.

We have been sponsoring her for a few years now. Before Sindy was sponsored she lived in a home for the Blind near our house and attended public schools for many years. We met Sindy while teaching Bible study in her school.

Before we would start each of our Bible Study classes we would greet each student and when we greeted Sindy her smile was the largest of all of them. At first I thought to myself how does she study the normal classes and complete her homework. Sindy explained to Glenda and I that when she was in the 9th grade, she would place her cell phone on the desk to voice-record all the lessons the teacher was teaching. She would take the phone back home and plug it into a computer and it would print out the lesson in braille. Then she would ask an assistant to write the answers for her on the pages needed to complete her homework.

At her 9th grade graduation (picture to the left) she grabbed our hearts as she sang a song to the entire school of Praises to the Lord Jesus out of love and gratitude. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place. We inquired what she wanted to do since she was 28years old at the time. She said she wanted to study. So Sindy was sponsored and worked very hard to get the to the point of graduation in 2026.

This picture shows Sindy in action. She had to complete a certain amount of hours in community service in order for her to graduate. In her service she cleaned the children’s hair from lice (seen in photo), also cut fingernails and toenails, and helped with basic personal needs of the poor children of Honduras. Yes, she can cut fingernails really well.

Sindy is now 30 years old, and we are so proud of her for overcoming the very difficult obstacles she faced while studying in public school. Also overcoming the adversity she faced from others as well as battles with her own mind – wanting to quit; I am too old; the homework is too hard, and much more. Glenda spent may hours on the phone exhorting and convincing her to fight on.

Now she knows victory is at hand because graduation is this December and she is going to do what many can’t and that is to receive a degree!!!! Praise Jesus!!!!

Blessings from Michael and Glenda
