We all know what a smile means to us. But what if you were actually afraid to smile?

RICARDO’S STORY
Glenda and I have been led over the years to help those who have been born with rotten, twisted teeth. Each year the lord leads us to help someone with a huge hand up. Unfortunately in the culture we live in (I am sure it is the same in other countries) a smile that is not a pretty smile will reduce the chance in finding a job immensely.
This photo and the next one below were taken 2 1/2 years ago when Ricardo in 12th grade and sponsored by the ministry. He was in desperate need to receive help.

We found a dentist who was willing to take this challenge on.
His dad is a drunk and uses drugs. The mom is not in his or his siblings lives. In fact he lives by the river near our home where the poorest live. His home is a shack. He works to make money so he can eat.
With the sponsorship he was set so he could go to school. We asked him if he wanted a new smile and he was Praising Jesus for the opportunity.

This photo we just received from Ricardo, who is now in University, studying full time and working small jobs for transportation and for food but with his new smile.
Ricardo’s words to us were; “Please tell my North American Friends thank you for supporting me and for giving me a new smile. Thank you!!“
