This is our second time this year in bringing the word of God to the community at the base of La Tigra Park. La Tigra National park is about a one hour drive into the mountains. Our group of children that participate hasgrown to 156 kids and about 40 adults. Our boys this year have been focusing on prayer. So they start praying weeks before we head up. On the night before we go we form a circle and hold hands and lift up the children they are going to serve, the message that is going to be preached to the adults, and the games and activities that are going to be played. Cristhian one of our oldest boys had the opportunity to preach and he did it in a way he felt was more like Christ. He sat with the adults and taught from the scriptures. The people loved his concept and asked questions and realized they need to make some changes to walk a life that was more Christ like. Not just saying, “They are Christians” but living out their faith by being the Glory to others. After the puppet show the boys break up the children into different age groups show they can share a Bible story and make a project that goes with the story. The mother’s always thank our youth for their love, time and remembering them. After the program the boys use their tithe to provide food for everyone. As they serve each child or adult, someone always asked for a plate of food for their grandmother, grandfather who hasn’t eaten since the day before. Or in many cases this is the only meal they get for the day. As vegetable and fruit farmers they only raise enough money for their basic needs. If a problem comes up school starts up food always is second. This always leaves our youth with the word of Thanks to God for what they have and where they live, even if their living conditions aren’t the best for them.
