Our Sponsored Children Working Hard

Glenda and I wanted to write about some of our sponsored children who have either one an award for there school or have finished some projects. We were supper surprised when Roxanna called us and asked if she could show us her medal and certificate from winning a Dictionary Bee. Each year the 21st of October School competes with other area schools in a dictionary Bee. The dictionary bee is a game in who can find certain words the quickest and gives its definition. Roxanna represented her school and came in second place! We are so proud of her. This is a 1st for one of our students in the higher grades. Usually we have some of our students rank well with their grades but in the 6th grade. So well done Roxanna!

The second thing we wanted to report was the huge growth that Yoel and Yeovanny have made in their carpentry classes at INFOP (Like our BOCES program). The boys have been going to school 7 days a week. Saturday and Sunday they have been taking English and Computer classes. They are showing their interest because when we stopped by to visit their school and to see how they were doing the teacher was excited to see our interest. He was telling us that the boys are doing very good and out of the class of 12 they are the only ones who show up for their Saturday and Sunday classes. While talking to the teacher the boys brought out their finished projects and wanted to show us. We are so proud of them. They expressed to us when they graduate they want to take another class in carving wood so they can have an advantage over the other cabinet makers. While taking them home from school we talked to them about their future and the importance of working hard. We treated them to Burger King and they asked why. We told them that when a man works hard and that they showed us good grades, good attitude, and interest they deserve a treat. They were smiling all the way to the restaurant.
