Roxanna (seen in 2nd photo front) graduated from High School four years ago from the 21st of Octubre Junior/Senior High School and was sponsored by Border Buddies Ministries for four years. Roxanna comes a from a very poor family that lives in a very small house and her father is a taxi driver that makes only $7 per day after paying the gang tax and rental of his car. So when Roxanna graduated in 2011 she wasn’t sure what her future would bring. But with her efforts while in High School in earning many academic awards and spelling bees and maintaining good grades she was awarded a full scholarship with a private school. Roxanna came to work for us as a teacher for our Saturday Youth Group and earned money to pay for her transportation to school. This young lady graduated last week as Valedictorian of her College! She is now a Licensed Engineer. She is very excited for the future now because she has many job opportunities awaiting her and she asked the businesses if she could finish her year with Border Buddies in teaching. What an example of integrity, love for the ministry and also dedication in showing the world that a person can rise from the poverty and become a success story. We are very proud of Roxanna and we pray only that many more will rise from the poverty of not just financial but also from the poverty of pride to say, “I do need help to make this happen.”

This year we have enrolled two more of our students into the same private college, and they will begin attending shortly after graduation from high school. We are praying that our College Program will continue to receive support so we can report many more success stories like Roxanna.

If you are interested in helping our College Sponsorship Program all you need to do is send a check to our PO Box earmarked College Fund and your one time, or monthly support can help many more youth become professionals.
