Boys Youth – La Tigre Park Evangelism – September 2013

The mission for our boys is to bring the love and acceptance of Jesus Christ by Grace to all those who come to listen to the messages that the boys show or share with them. This day the 1st of September the soccer court was occupied with a soccer game. The boys were wondering in what they should do. To cancel or to wait even though this could mean a distraction for our work for the Lord. We chose to wait an hour. During the hour the boys went to door to door announcing that there is going to be preaching, games and activities for all the children, youth and adults. (Can you imagine yourself going door to door and announcing a program that your church has? Or just talking about Jesus to those who you don’t know?) The people started to come in small groups but when it came time to start we had up to 200 people all together. This was 90 more than the last time. The boys said, “All we are offering is the Gospel and activities.” I said, “yes but this has never been done here with them and you are building a trust with them and they are feeling comfortable enough to trust you with their children. The smiles came across their faces. They knew they could be trusted. This is huge for them because they have a hard enough time trying to trust their families, friends, and themselves. The boys gave two children’s sermons and then separated the children from the youth and adults. The boys had face painting, jump rope, balloon toss, marble in a spoon races, tug of war, Christian bracelet projects, and the kids were able to make foam necklaces of a cross.

While the children were playing we had about 40 youth and adults waiting to listen to a message of hope, change and accepting God’s Grace. As seen in the top photo. The boys were preaching and teaching not just with words but with a drama so they can make an impact. One of the teachings our youth are going through is Ephesians 1:1-6. We have taught that Grace is very important to our life. It is because God accepts you, loves you, and you are the object of His affection. Second we have been teaching them that they are, “blessed in the heavenly realms”. We are teaching them that God feels for you, thinks about you, sees you, wants to help you, and wants to bless you and not take away your right as an adopted son or daughter. This is the exact message our youth are conveying to the people in the mountains in front of the La Tigre Park. They are taking what they are learning and sharing a message of hope and not a message that is a lie. The world teaches us to work and try, work and try and God will love you. What our youth have learned is that God already loves them and they are a part of a big family. The goal is to teach the people in the mountains that they are not forgotten, they are loved, God understands their hardships, and He is there waiting for them to accept His Grace. Please pray for our youth as they will be heading back to the mountains September 29th to continue in their work for the Lord. I have noticed how they look forward to this like it is a big trip to a water park or a sleep over at our home. They truly love serving. They practice 3 times a week so the program will go smoothly. All thanks go to God and to all of you for making this happen through this ministry.
