“2013 SATURDAY SEWING GROUP”

These photos were taken on the last day of sewing classes for the year 2013. As the food was being passed out and the laughter spreading from one group to another I kept listening the “Victory” cries in the air. The victory is in each of them. This group of ladies and one man gained freedom from their thinking that they can’t do it. They have changed it to the thinking we can do more. Many are talking about 2014 in how they want to learn how to make business suits, vests, fancy blouses, and so much more. They are ready said the teacher who also is claiming victory. Antonio the teacher is a recovering alcoholic. He said that the ministry and this group is what have kept him going on the narrow path. The women are so proud of themselves in being able to go out and purchase fabric and go home and make a pattern and sew their dress, or jacket, or a pair of pants without having to pay someone else for it. Some of the students have opened businesses and are sewing for their neighbors and friends from church. When we started this back in 2005 many of the women came and left because of family issues, or husbands not agreeing with this change in their wives. Also these classes took away time from being at home in the eyes of the husbands and ladies like Maria have shown their husbands that they can gain extra money or save money for their families. Every Saturday Glenda would give a devotion and time of prayer before the group started their class. We know that the foundation of this class is Jesus Christ. The Victory is through Jesus and they are trampling down the enemy of pride, control, submission, depression, and limitation. They have put on a positive attitude in gaining so much by taking this 3 hour once a week class. Amazing in what this has become!
